If the credit bureau is unable to verify the information, they are obligated to remove it. They can get verification from you or from the creditor, neither of whom is obligated to supply it.

A letter writing campaign is not always fun but can certianly payoff in the long run. Also, be sure to save copies of anything you send to the bureau so you have a paper trail.
It is your responsibility, and if you aren't willing to do the work that it takes to repair your credit, then hire a credit restoration specialist to do the work for you.
