How I Got My Car Loan
by Jeff
(New Orleans, LA)
When I was 24 years old I applied for a loan for a car. I was declined because according to the bank I had an outstanding house mortgage that began in 1977.
I asked how this was possible since I was born in 1981. It turned out that my Father who was a senior had his credit history on my report.
I contacted the three credit bureaus and obtained copies of my credit reports. I had this information removed from my credit report by using the
dispute procedure for each of the credit bureaus.
This allowed me to buy the car that I wanted.
Mom's Comments: Jim, this is so common to have other people's stuff on your own credit. My husband had the same thing happen.
Fortunately, most of the time, it is an easy fix though a bit of a time consuming one.
Hope you enjoy your car.... stay safe.
