Credit Report Disputes and What You Can Do

credit report disputes,

Is your credit report in need of credit report disputes? Is your credit less than perfect? Did you know that you could fix your credit report, and get the credit score you deserve?

It is tremendously valuable to know how to deal with credit report disputes and what your rights are.  The fair credit reporting act is on your side, now you just need to learn what to do with it.

Today, even though the economy is less than perfect you need a decent credit score to live.  If you want to buy a home, a car, or any other large purchases, your credit is crucial.

Sometimes your credit report will even keep you from getting a job that you deserve!  Cleaning up your credit report is all about understanding the fair credit reporting act and credit report disputes.

If you have a mark on your credit, the first step you need to take is finding out what it is.  Credit reporting agencies are not perfect, and their reports are not set in stone.

You need to question them why this ding appears on your credit report!  This ding is lowering your credit score and making it tougher to get the loan or lower interest rate.

Always pull the three most well known credit reporting agency's reports.  Transunion, Equifax, and Experian are the companies most banks or lending institutions use for your credit history information.

Contact each agency for a copy of your report.  Most people get their reports online.  There are even free credit reports offered yearly from these agencies.

Once you have a copy of the report go through and see what negative marks you have. Contact each agency with your credit report disputes. Any negative marks on your credit report are often easily removed when you question why they are there.

Sometimes the agencies realize it was their fault, or for whatever reason they just remove it with no further questions. If they remove it, we will not question them either. We will welcome it quickly.

You may receive a message back from the reporting agency telling you that the mark on your credit report has been verified that it is unquestionably an accurate mark.

At this point, you can still remove this mark from your credit if you are willing to put forth a little more effort. Remember the fair credit reporting act is on your side.

This is when many people give up and do not go any further. They just accept the fact that their credit is negative, or they accept the higher interest rates due to the negative remarks.

If you truly are seeking the way to clean up your credit, do not give up! Keep going! This is just a stumbling block, but not a road block. Write to the company that issued the negative mark. Cleaning up your credit report could take a few months to a few years depending on how many critical marks you have.

Do not get discouraged because you will get the credit report and FICO score that you deserve with a little effort and time.

There is no reason to accept paying higher interest rates, or being turned down when you know with a little extra effort you will be able to enjoy the freedom that goes with a good credit.

Good credit starts with understanding that the fair credit reporting act is on your side when it comes to credit report disputes or getting professional help.
